Lenovo, the PC manufacturing firm has unveiled it’s latest brand of laptops today. It has also launched a new server today. The ThinkPad X201 and the Think Server TS200v models were launched today.
TS200v – the server launched today looks more like a personal computer than a server. Making use of the Intel 3450 chipset for its motherboard, the server chipset can be fitted with Intel’s processors – the Intel i3-530, the Pentium G6950, or the Intel Celeron G1101. In lenovo official website – a news release stated that this was lenovo first server providing “unprecedented” management capabilities and solid “reliability”, making it the first model to be made available to consumers at “desktop prices”.
The server model also supports DDR3 RAM – additional slots (4 in number) have been provided to fit in more memory chips. It comes with a single gigabit Ethernet port, an x16/x18 PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) slot and can support up to ten USB devices. It can house two 3.5 inch HDD and provides server functionality – memory error correction, RAID (redundant array of inexpensive disks – storage technology) protection et al. It has officially been showcased as the first server to make use of Intel’s Active Management Technology, making remote management easy for consumers. The TS200v has been priced from 500$ and upwards.
Lenovo other product was the X201 thinkpad laptop. It makes use of Intel’s core processor chip – you can choose amongst the three chipsets viz. the Intel Core i7-620M, the Core i5-540M, or the Core i5-520M. A 12 inch display provides high resolution capabilities. Intel high definition GPU chipsets are built-into this laptop, rendering high definition graphics – apt for game enthusiasts. The RAM capacity is on the high side too. Up to 8 GB of RAM support is expected; A 500 GB HDD is added along with the option of availing external hard disk drives for additional space.
The laptop can be bought with the Windows 7 operating system installed in it. WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity is common among all laptops today and this feature has been incorporated into the thinkpad. Battery power can last up to 11 hours and the laptop runs on 4 – 6 heavy duty lithium cells. The base price for the X201 is $ 1,199.
On the whole, these two products launched seem to be pretty good. But one of the negative aspects is the price of the laptop. At the same configuration, one could buy a cheaper laptop. Lenovo at present is the fourth largest seller of personal computers in the world. Hope this latest product brings further sales to the manufacturer.
Sometimes you might need to change a spare part in your notebook and taking it to service might cost extra or maybe shipping issues and so on. But if you are used to disassemble computers, or if the part you need to replace is not that hard to track, there are instructions on how to do it yourself. If you happen to have your Compaq Presario manual from when you have bought the system, you can look for that particular part and follow the exact steps. You can also download some parts of the manual and check for the instructions and then print them. But let’s just say that you don’t have these measurements at your disposal. So what can you do? You can follow the Compaq Presario R3000 notebook disassemble step by step and with a bit of courage and accuracy you will be able to change whatever needs changes by yourself.
There are some things you should know first. Notebook parts are harder to take apart and to put back together, because they are smaller and they have different locations. Furthermore, Compaq Presario does change the location of every component depending on the model you have. So this is to keep count and don’t look for the general notebook disassemble process, because it could not fit your notebook. But the first steps are for everybody. To start with, you should have some crewdrivers for all sizes of the screws. Then you need to disconnect the power sources from the system in order to avoid power shock. Pull out the power cord and the battery as well. Afterward, you need to flip the notebook and unscrew all the covers in the back. Generally, it refers to the covers from the hard drive and the memory, the memory module you will need to get out. Now it is time to get the hard drive out, be careful a sit has some screws around. Next is the CD/DVD drive which needs to be unscrewed by pushing the drive free with a flathead screwdriver.
The keyboard as well must come out, so loosen the screws on the bottom, while holding the keyboard in place. Watch out for the cables when you are disconnecting the keyboard from the motherboard. The cooling fan is as well held in place by screws and plugged in the motherboard. The video card is up next, it should come out by itself once you loosen the screws and removing them as well. Hold the card from the edges once you pull it out carefully. In order to remove the cover, you need to turn the notebook over and remove any existing screw from the bottom. The ones holding the track pad must be pulled out, by lifting the trackpad out and disconnecting the ribbon cable from the motherboard.
The screen must be detached as well by unplugging the screen’s cable from the motherboard and the antenna cables, which are connected to the wireless card. The top cover of the notebook must be removed by unplugging the cables from the CMOS battery. The rest remaining connected to the motherboard must be unscrewed, including the processor (if you are replacing the motherboard). So this is Compaq Presario R3000 notebook disassemble.
HP Mini 210 netbooks get new color options
HP doesn’t plan to showcase any brand new netbook models at CES this year, but the company is giving its latest Mini 210 line of 10 inch netboks a bit of a makeover. The company has added two new color options: iceberry and rasberry.
The rasberry color will be available exclusively from Best Buy in the US for $329.99 starting on January 23rd. In case you couldn’t guess, it’s the darker pink, almost purple of the two.
The iceberry color option will be available from HP.com beginning on January 9th, with prices starting at $349.99.
The new lids are designed with a layered, checkered pattern that looks different from different angles. You can see a few more photos after the break.
