HP New Touch Screen Laptop and All In Ones Debut

The new multi-touch models include a number of applications that take advantage of the interface, including Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, Recipe Box, a webcam "photo booth" application, and the HP Music Store.

• HP TouchSmart tx2 -- A laptop, starting at $799, with a 12.1-inch screen that rotates 180-degrees for use as a tablet. Besides touch commands, users can write or draw on the screen with an electronic pen. Available Oct. 22.
• HP TouchSmart 300 and 600 -- Are the third-generation of HP's touch-enabled desktops. The 300 has a 20-inch screen and the 600 (shown) has a 23-inch display. The 300 starts at $899 and will begin deliveries on Nov. 1, with the 600 due Oct. 22 and priced starting at $1,049. Read our review of the HP TouchSmart 600.
• HP TouchSmart 9100 -- An all-in-one desktop, starting at $1,299, which includes a 23-inch touch screen. It can be used as standard touch screen PC or tasked as a map or events kiosk in an office, hotel, or other location. Deliveries begin in December.
• HP LD42200tm -- A digital signage device with a 42-inch touch screen. Available in December for $2,799.

Besides touch screens, HP also introduced several business desktop and laptop computers as well as new value-oriented Compaq-branded desktops and a laptop.

The Compaq Presario CQ61z (where do they get these model numbers?) costs only $399 and features a 15.6-inch screen, after $100 instant rebate. The Compaq 500B business desktop sells for $359, while the new Compaq Presario 4010f desktop sells for $309.

My take: The laptop looks very interesting and I will consider purchasing one during my next upgrade cycle. I am not wild about reaching out to touch a desktop, although HP is pushing these models for entertainment and kitchen use, where touch makes some sense.

In the kitchen, the touch screen is meant to be used with recipes and other applications that can work entirely by touch when keyboard use isn't appropriate. Verbal directions are also provided.

The new Compaq's are a welcome addition to lowest-priced laptops and desktops. The laptop competes with netbooks on price and will win some of those battles.

Some additional info popped up to clarify the 4G connectivity situation with the Motorola DROID Xoom tablet. The access to Verizon's LTE network won't be built-in, as we already knew, but rather there will be an option to insert a separate 4G modem into a PCI Express slot that will be on the tablet. How much will it cost, is still unknown, but if you are willing to splurge $50/$80 for 5GB/10GB monthly traffic, the cost of retrofitting it with the modem probably won't be a deterrent anyway.

For a sneak peak at what this PCIe might look like, have a look at the video after the source, where Verizon's LTE network is accessed from a prototype Tegra 2 tablet via the said PCI Express slot - the modem is shown at about 5:13 into the video.

We'd say it is as good a solution as any, since hardwiring the LTE chips inside the tablet would have made it more expensive, and there are many people who don't have coverage from Verizon's 4G network, or are not planning to use it at these prices yet. Rumor has it that Motorola DROID Xoom commercials will be aired at the Super Bowl February 6th, and the tablet itself might go on sale on February 14th, when Google's Eric Schmidt is giving a keynote speech at the start of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Menurut Perdana Menteri, skuad negara telah bermain dengan baik sebagai satu pasukan sehingga berjaya menjulang piala berkenaan.

“Saya berasa begitu gembira dan bangga atas kejayaan yang diraih oleh pasukan muda Malaysia. Syabas Harimau Malaya! Kamu semua telah membanggakan negara. Tahniah,” katanya menerusi pesanan ringkas dalam laman sosialnya di Twitter dan Facebook.

Malaysia adalah negara keempat di rantau ini yang berjaya menjulang Piala Suzuki AFF 2010 selepas Thailand, Singapura dan Vietnam.

Dalam satu kenyataannya menerusi Bernama pula, Najib berkata, kemenangan Malaysia dalam perlawanan akhir Piala Suzuki-AFF adalah sesuatu yang dibanggakan.

“Ini adalah malam paling gemilang dalam bola sepak Malaysia. Pasukan muda telah memberikan kita kebanggaan dan kita mesti bina kejayaan ini untuk menggerakkan bola sepak maju ke hadapan pada tahap yang lebih tinggi.

“Ini bagi memastikan apa yang kita capai malam ini bukan satu yang sepintas lalu tetapi permulaan dalam sejarah bola sepak kita sebagai yang besar,” katanya.

Sementara itu, perasaan sama turut dikongsi Timbalannya, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yang mengucapkan setinggi-tinggi tahniah dan syabas kepada pasukan bola sepak Malaysia atas kejayaan itu.

JAKARTA – Sejarah tercipta di bumi Stadium Gelora Bung Karno, buat pertama kali dalam sejarah penganjuran Piala Suzuki AFF 2010 apabila Malaysia menjadi juara walaupun tewas 1-2 kepada Indonesia dalam perlawanan akhir kedua untuk meraih kemenangan melalui agregat 4-2, semalam.

Features of Sony Ericsson All Models

Although this issue has been busy since the last few years, until now there has been no sign of the emergence of Sony Ericsson PlayStation. But, perhaps the issue could become a reality if the news was broadcast Pocket-lint can be proved.

Citing sources close at Sony Ericsson, the website says the PlayStation phone will be introduced on the Mobile World Congress that was held in February and then launched in April 2011.

The phone is also rumored to be shown first in the UK alone. No further information in relation to its availability in other countries.

The report also ensure direct simmering PlayStation phone by Sony Ericsson. This report was at once dismissed rumors that circulated last year, which Sony developed its own mobile phone for the Japanese vendor was not very comfortable if done by the company’s joint venture Sony Ericsson.

Back in 2001, a working group formed by Sony Ericsson creates breakthrough products that combine cell phone and PlayStation consoles. However, until now the project is no sequel.

While reports of this confidential source came a week after Sony announced plans to develop applications that limit the PlayStation certain functions on the iPhone and Android. 

Sony Ericsson makes some of the best cam phones around, taking the photographic skills of the CyberShot range, then implanting them into mobiles. But its latest handset, rumored to pack a 16MP super-snapper, might be a little overkill.
The as yet unknown mobile was spotted leaving the FCC, which points towards a 2011 launch for the camera phone. This comes from TechRadar, who go on to say the camera-packing smarties will be powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, with a touchscreen and slide-out keyboard.
Images of the device are token CyberShot (whether that is a good thing or not, you decide) and the device is slated to run a Sony Ericsson OS.
Not much more is known about the device, other than the usual Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth connections, but it’s thought to pack a standard microSD slot for easy access to your snaps.
It’s slated to hit Japan first, then the rest of the world second.
The previous megapixel master of the camera world was Panasonic, who promised a 13.2MP phone earlier this year.


Rumors of Sony’s next-gen PlayStation Portable bifurcate into rumors about two distinct devices. On one hand, there’s the PSP2 proper, which is said to boast dual analog control sticks, Xbox 360 level graphical abilities and a rear touch panel. On the other hand, there’s the PlayStation Phone, designed by Sony Ericsson… and which looks like it very well may debut at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress in February 2011.
It’s speculation, true, but here’s what we know. According to Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Goldberg, Sony Ericsson will be showing off a new gamer phone at MWC 2011.
If that wasn’t enough to make you suspect the phone he’s talking about was the PlayStation Phone, though, Nordberg then went on to say the following:

“I’m very glad that we work with a company like Sony, who actually knows how to [negotiate games rights]… Sony has an extremely strong offering in the gaming market, and that’s very interesting… Sony is of course a very strong brand, and why shouldn’t we use that? Gaming, including content, is a very interesting proposition.

Nordberg comments sure seem like he’s just itching to reveal the PlayStation Phone right then and there, but it’s still unknown what the actual capabilities of the PlayStation Phone will be. My guess is that it’ll be an Android phone that is also capable of playing Sony’s existing library of PSP games and not share the capabilities of the PSP2, but it also could be an entirely new device aimed at gamers that Sony’s agreed to lend a few of its more popular franchises to. Only MWC will tell.

Samsung has introduced three new smartphones in the Wave brand such as the Wave 525, the Wave 575 and the Wave 533. All the new sets run on Bada operating system and come with hordes of features.

 

The three devices sport 3.2 inch touch screen along with a 3.2MP camera, 100 MB of storage memory capable of expanding up to 16 GB, GPS capabilities and Wi-Fi support. However, there are some differences among the sets.

 

The Wave 525 will feature all the aforesaid attributes except the 3G support. The Wave 533 will sport a slide-out keyboard, whereas the Wave 575 will have Bluetooth 3.0 exclusively.

 

The Samsung mobile phones will also feature certain other Samsung applications like Social Hub. The Galaxy Tab Android based phones will also have that application.

 

 “The Samsung Wave family has been designed for those who take socializing seriously. That’s why it features an integrated messaging solution – a one-stop hub for all your communications including SMS, e-mail, SNS, and Instant Messaging,” the company said in a statement.

  Earlier today we reported on the release of pictures showing off the Samsung Nexus S. Now comes some leaked information revealing that Samsung will be rolling out a flagship device in February 2011, possibly during the MWC show. Pembunuhan kejam dan ganas yang melangkaui pemikiran waras manusia normal hangat diperkatakan sepanjang tahun ini.

Berikut adalah antara episod tragis yang juga dianggap antara perlakuan jenayah paling ngeri dalam sejarah negara.

Pembunuhan Sosilawati Lawiya

* 30 Ogos - Jutawan kosmetik Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya dan tiga lagi terdiri daripada pemandu peribadinya Kamaruddin Shamsudin, 44; pegawai bank CIMB cawangan Kampung Baru Noorhisham Mohammad, 38; dan peguamnya, Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32, dilaporkan hilang selepas ke Banting, Selangor atas urusan pembelian tanah.

* 9 dan 10 September - Polis menahan lapan suspek berusia 19 hingga 41 tahun termasuk dua peguam adik beradik dan pekerja Ladang Gadong, Jalan Tanjung Sepat, Morib.

* 12 September - Polis mengesahkan Sosilawati dan tiga yang lain menjadi mangsa pembunuhan kejam di Ladang Gadong. Siasatan lanjut mendapati selepas dibunuh, mayat mereka dibakar manakala abu dibuang ke sebatang sungai berhampiran.

* 15 Oktober - Dua daripada suspek dijatuhi hukuman penjara tujuh tahun selepas mengaku bersalah di Mahkamah Majistret Teluk Datok atas tuduhan melupuskan bahan bukti dengan membakar mayat dan membuang abu keempat-empat mangsa.

Pembunuhan di Gemencheh

* 5 Januari - Rasidi Ismail, 34, membunuh adik perempuan, bapa, datuk dan neneknya di kediaman keluarganya di Kampung Batang Rokan, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan.

- Mayat Atan Daud, 90, dan isterinya Sutiah Katas, 80, Ismail Awang, 76, dan
Siti Khadijah Ismail, 22, ditemui sama ada dipenggal, ditikam atau anggota mereka putus dalam serangan ganas menggunakan parang.

- Rasidi memenggal kepala Ismail sebelum menanamnya di tanah perkuburan Islam Seksyen 21, Shah Alam.

* 7 September - Rasidi dibebaskan daripada pertuduhan membunuh empat anggota keluarganya setelah didapati tidak waras semasa melakukan perbuatan itu.

Dera kanak-kanak sehingga mati

* 25 Februari - Syafiah Humaira Sahari, 3, didera dengan tendangan dan pijakan menggunakan kasut bola oleh teman lelaki ibunya Mohd Fazli Azri Jamil sehingga menyebabkan kematiannya di Ulu Yam Lama, Batang Kali.

- Kanak-kanak itu dilaporkan meninggal dunia akibat pendarahan otak dan mengalami kerosakan buah pinggang, akibat dihentak dan ditendang dengan kuat oleh suspek.

* 22 September - Mohd Fazli dijatuhi hukuman gantung sampai mati.

* 4 Mac - K Haresvarran, 18 bulan, dipijak yang menyebabkan tulang rusuknya retak selain hatinya pecah ketika berada di taman permainan di Pangsapuri Vista Damansara, Jalan Kenanga, Kampung Sungai Ara, Petaling Jaya.

- Kanak-kanak malang itu dipercayai didera oleh suami kepada bekas penjaganya yang merupakan seorang kelindan lori berusia 33 tahun di sebuah taman permainan di Pangsapuri Seri Ara, Damansara.

Pembunuhan Siti Mazni Abdul Rahman

* 17 Disember - seorang gadis tingkatan dua Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tunku Putera, Tongkang Pecah, Siti Mazni Abdul Rahman,14, ditemui mati di ladang kelapa sawit yang terletak 150 meter dari rumahnya di Batu Pahat, Johor.

- Mayatnya ditemui dengan kesan tikaman di bahagian hadapan badannya dipercayai dibunuh di tempat lain sebelum mayatnya disorok di bawah timbunan daun-daun kelapa sawit di ladang berkenaan.

- Siti Mazni dilaporkan hilang dua hari sebelum itu apabila dia tidak pulang ke rumah selepas memberitahu neneknya Mailiah Idris, 62, yang dia keluar untuk berjumpa dengan rakan-rakannya.

* 19 Disember - Lima orang termasuk empat pelajar ditahan berkaitan kejadian itu.

Khalid: 1Malaysia hanya untuk kepentingan Umno

Kenyataan 1 Malaysia bukan alat politik oleh Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak terus dibidas oleh pimpinan Pakatan Rakyat, laporTV Selangor.

Terbaru ahli lajnah politik PAS, Khalid Samad menegaskan 1 Malaysia itu hanya untuk kepentingan politik Umno walaupun umum mengetahui apa yang diperjuangkan oleh parti itu sendiri sehingga mengabaikan kaum lain di negara ini.

"Ia memanglah dilakukan atas dasar kepentingan politik Umno-BN apabila ia nampak ekstrem dari segi persoalan perkauman ini. Lalu timbul persoalan formula 1 Malaysia ini seolah nak hilangkan isu perkauman yang diperjuangkan selama ini maka ia dikemukakan atas kepentingan politik," katanya.

Semalam Najib mendakwa 1 Malaysia tidak mempunyai tujuan politik tetapi adalah untuk menyatukan masyarakat berbilang kaum di negara ini bagi menjawab keputusan Kerajaan Selangor mengharamkan penggunaan logo 1 Malaysia kecuali untuk tujuan perniagaan.

Turut menyanggah kenyataan Najib ialah Penasihat DAP Lim Kit Siang katanya, hakikatnya keadaan dalam negara ini makin teruk sejak pengenalan slogan 1 Malaysia, rakyat didahulukan pencapaian diutamakan kerana ia hanya bersifat retorik semata.

Menurut Lim (pertama dari kanan) retorik mengenai perkauman, ektremisme dan penindasan kaum yang bertentangan dengan prinsip 1 Malaysia datang dari Umno sendiri sehingga timbul persoalan mengenai komitmen dan keikhlasan Najib dalam mengamalkan 1 Malaysia yang sebenar.

Sentimen ini turut dikongsi oleh Khalid yang berpendapat Umno-BN sememangnya tidak mampu membawa konsep kesatuan kaum kerana mereka sendiri tidak dapat bersatu dan hanya memperjuangkan kaum masing-masing.

"Dari sudut itu yang dipertikaikan ialah sejauh mana BN boleh melaksanakan atau menghayati wawasan itu sedangkan kita lihat mereka ini terdiri dari parti komponen setiap kaum yang memperjuangkan kepentingan kaum mereka sendiri. Maka falsafah BN itu sendiri bercanggah dengan semangat 1 Malaysia itu," ujarnya.

Justeru, Khalid berpendapat dasar 1 Malaysia ini hanya merugikan Najib dan Umno-BN sendiri.

Beliau yakin rakyat dapat menilai bagaimana perbezaan penghayatan keadilan dan kesamaan kaum sebenar Pakatan Rakyat dan retorik 1 Malaysia Umno-BN.

"Bila mereka menonjolkan dasar seperti ini, ia sekali lagi senjata makan tuan. Ia dikemukakan atas kepentingan politik BN dan akhirnya ia akan menikam balik Umno-BN," katanya.

KUALA LUMPUR – Dendam terbalas! Garuda tersembam ke bumi dibaham Harimau Malaya. Nampaknya reputasi gah Indonesia sekadar omong kosong apabila anak-anak buah K. Rajagobal memastikan penyokong Malaysia berpesta di Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil dengan kemenangan cukup menyakinkan, 3-0.

Luka kekalahan 1-5 di Jakarta telah diubati dengan kemenangan berharga ini dan Malaysia kini berpeluang cerah menjulang trofi Piala Suzuki AFF buat kali pertama.

Nokia N8 smartphone

Nokia has been in the wars of late. In July it announced a profit slump of 40 per cent, a result that presaged a major corporate reshuffle a few month later which saw the company appoint Stephen Elop, a Microsoft executive, as the first non-Finnish CEO in the company's history.

Although it can still lay claim to be the world's No 1 mobile phone manufacturer, the crown has slipped in recent years. And in the all important smartphone segment, it is struggling to match the appeal of Apple's iPhone and, more recently, the swarm of new Android-powered phones.

It is against this backdrop that Nokia's latest and smartest smartphone, the N8, recently made its debut. Several months earlier, however, Nokia had already signalled that this would be the last of its flagship N series phones to based on Symbian - an operating system that has been Nokia's main mobile phone platform since 2001.

And that does not surprise me. The N8 runs on the ^3 version of Symbian which is an updated version of the Symbian OS used on the N97, the last Nokia phone.

In both cases, while I have found the hardware to be first class, the operating system remains second rate. Symbian is well past its prime and no match for the modern operating systems such as iOS and Android. It remains and artefact of a pre-iPhone age and has no place on a modern smartphone.

Undoubtedly there will still be a few devotees but I can't conceive of anyone voluntarily switching from from one of the fancy pants platforms to Symbian^3.

Nokia has done the right thing and will in future base its leading top end smartphones on the Linux-based MeeGo OS. Which begs the questions: why bother to launch a new phone with an obsolete OS?

That's a pity because the N8 hardware is first rate. There's a 12 megapixel camera with a  Xenon flash and a Carl Zeiss lens which shoots video in 720 HD. The results are awesome. I also like what they've done with the capacitive touchscreen, which is a big improvement on the one used on the N97. It shows that there's something to build on. 

 

Tambahan RM500: Kenapa Muhyiddin takut sangat?

PAS hari ini mengingatkan Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin agar jangan mudah melatah jika tidak mahu sikap takut dan gelabah beliau terhadap janji Pakatan Rakyat terbongkar, lapor Harkahdaily.

Ketua Penerangan PAS, Idris Ahmad berkata, parti Islam itu berasa pelik dengan sikap Muhyiddin yang juga timbalan presiden Umno yang sangat emosi terhadap komitmen Pakatan Rakyat untuk menaikkan RM500 sebulan kepada guru jika Pakatan Rakyat menerajui negara seperti diumum Ketua Umum PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"PAS merasa pelik seorang Timbalan Perdana Menteri mencabar Datuk Seri Anuar Ibrahim menaikkan gaji guru-guru di negeri Pakatan Rakyat.

"Iltizam Pakatan Rakyat kepada guru-guru jika Pakatan Rakyat memerintah di peringkat pusat, bukannya sekarang.

"Kenapa perlu takut dengan janji Pakatan Rakyat? Janganlah buat tuduhan yang tidak menentu," katanya.

Beliau mengulas kenyataan Muhyiddin yang mendakwa tawaran Pakatan Rakyat untuk pendidik itu hanya janji politikdan sukar dilaksana untuk guru sahaja dan memberi alasan dengan mempersoal imbuhan kepada kakitangan awam lain.

Menurut Idris, untuk peringkat awal janji berkenaan hanya diberikan kepada guru namun semua kakitangan awam akan diambil perhatian juga selepas itu.

"Pakatan Rakyat mengambil tindakan awal untuk guru-guru sebagai satu penghargaan dan pengorbanan mereka mendidik rakyat di negara ini.

"PAS menasihatkan Tan Sri Muhyiddin dapat turun ke bawah, memerhatikan bagaimana beban guru-guru yang berat, jangan hanya mendesak guru-guru melakukan macam-macam tugas," katanya.

Idris, sehubungan itu, menasihatkan Muhyiddin supaya sabar dan tidak emosi. Beliau juga mahu timbalan perdana menteri itu meneliti ayat-ayat yang terkandung dalam buku jingga yang merupakan manifesto Pakatan yang telah diedar di Konvensyen Pakatan Rakyat 19 Disember lalu.

Selaku Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Muhyiddin juga katanya, Muhyiddin tentu lebih arif dalam hal kewangan negara berbanding pendapatan kerajaan negeri yang terlalu kecil.

"Jangan beliau bercakap macam ketua cawangan Umno sahaja.

"Pakatan Rakyat hanya berjanji untuk menaikkan taraf hidup rakyat dan meletakkan rakyat di tempat yang sepatutnya setelah 53 tahun rakyat dipinggirkan.

"Sekarang ini pun dengan kekangan kewangan negeri, Pakatan Rakyat telah membuat yang terbaik untuk rakyat, seperti skim kifalah, air percuma, bantuan pendidikan," katanya.

Umno: Hidup segan, mati tak mahu?

pucuk dicita ulam mendatang, Model Baru Politik (MBP) yang diumumkan oleh Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak selaku Presiden Umno baru-baru ini, tiba pada tepat pada masanya demi survival parti dan agenda perjuangannya.

Umno, katanya, perlu berubah supaya lebih terbuka dan inklusif, dan model baru politik ini menjadi wadah bagi perubahan yang diperlukan serta diperincikan supaya dapat diamal oleh semua anggota parti.

Model berkenaan yang membawa tema "Umno Dahulukan Rakyat" mengutamakan kepentingan rakyat dalam perjuangan Umno, sekali gus menolak 'lagu-lagu lama' seperti 'politik pembangunan' yang dilihat sudah kurang menarik kepada rakyat.

Pinda perlembagaan

Langkah pertama sudahpun dilaksanakan iaitu meminda perlembagaan parti supaya tidak hanya sebahagian anggota yang berkuasa membuat pilihan kepimpinan parti, tetapi keanggotaan yang lebih besar boleh memilih pemimpin mereka.

Pindaan yang dibuat kini membolehkan lebih 400,000 anggota layak memilih Presiden, Timbalan Presiden, tiga Naib Presiden serta anggota Majlis Tertinggi berbanding hanya 2,500 anggota perwakilan ke Persidangan Agung Umno sebelum ini.

Najib pernah berkata Umno harus berubah mengikut peredaran masa dan zaman kerana masyarakat sekarang menolak parti yang sudah berjasa kepada mereka kerana mereka melihat parti berkenaan masih dengan keadaan lama, tidak dinamik dan kaku.

Untuk memastikan Umno 'tak lapuk dek panas dan tak lekang dek hujan', Najib yang serius mahu melakukan perubahan pada parti, juga menggariskan beberapa langkah menanganinya seperti yang dinyatakan dalam ucapan dasarnya pada Perhimpunan Agung Umno 2010 Oktober lalu.

Pemulihan itu harus melalui tiga fasa, iaitu memperakui kelemahan dan masalah, bermuhasabah dan mencari penawar mustajab, serta memulakan gerak kerja.

Tujuh perkara pula telah digariskannya, iaitu meletakkan parti lebih tinggi daripada peribadi, memperkuatkan pasukan bukannya kumpulan, memenangi hati rakyat, menjuarai media baru, sasar pengundi muda, sifar masalah dalaman dan mendahulukan rakyat.
